Reginald Staarnor
Bowman
, “Reggie” of R. Bowman Real Estate passed away
last Sunday, January 22, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas after a
long valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease. Reggie dearly
loved Houston, Texas and took great pride in the business of
selling and leasing commercial real estate. Reggie had the
reputation of being the “go to” man when it came to downtown
real estate. Two years ago Reggie retired to his ranch on
the headwaters of the Guadalupe River with his wife,
Celeste. Reggie was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Please come join us in the celebration of Reggie’s life
at the Last Concert Café
Wednesday, February 1, at 3:00PM.
Jack
Mustachia, Jr. Aka Jackson
or Junior
passed away at the age of 46, Friday, January 27th at Ben
Taub Hospital.
Junior worked at the Last Concert Cafe for nearly 20 years initially as
the dishwasher in his late teens but most
importantly remembered by all as our
weeknight waiter. He left the cafe 6 years
ago to care for his elderly father who
passed away Thanksgiving Day 2011.
We love you Junior and you will be missed. RIP

Under a Houston off ramp,
cafe has a lock on survival
Houston - Twelve feet from an
exit ramp off Interstate 10, in the
urban hodgepodge of Texas' largest city,
rests a hardy survivor of the havoc a
major highway project can inflict upon a
neighborhood.
The Last Concert Cafe, spared
from the wrecking ball when I-10 blew
through Houston in the late 1960's,may
be the most anonymous-looking Mexican
restaurant in Texas, if not the United
States. The nondescript red-and-white
building has a small courtyard, no sign
and a red front door that remains
locked.

Leave it to the
gourmet-minded French to put a twist on
typical Tex-Mex traditions. When French
Consulate cultural attache' Joel Savary
entertained 25 visiting rench VIPs
Wednesday night at the Last Concert
Cafe, They Washed down their nachos not
with margaritas but with specially
ordered lime daiquris.
Apparently, the night
spot was tres OK with Savary's guest.
They stayed until 1 am dancing to the
sounds of Pot Roast and raving about the
unique Houston locale.

Best people watching
You'll have to look hard to find the Last Concert Cafe.
You'll also have to knock on the door to gain entrance.
But this Mexican themed restaurant and jammy live music
will keep you entertained for hours
Lately Mexican
food has been getting a bad rap on the
fat content of its fare. Not all Mexican
food is loaded with fat. I want you to
know a little more about the way we
prepare your food. The Last Concert Cafe
buys only the highest quality of lean
fresh meats. Our chicken is boneless and
skinless which cuts down on the fat
content of the finished product. Our
Burgers are made only with black angus
beef. Our cheese is the highest quality
Wisconsin Cheddar and Monterrey Jack. We
do not use processed cheeses in our
dinners. Feta cheese is a very low fat
cheese and is used in all of our dishes.
Olive oil is used to saute', season or
marinate our food. Our pintos are not
refried in lard but in olive oiil. The
refrying process gives the beans a rich
full bodied flavor. Our black beans are
seasoned with a small amount of lean
bacon. We fry our own taco shells and
tostada shells in peanut oil, a
delicious natural oil containing no
trans fats. Our produce is bought from
the local farmers market every day. We
do not purchase already prepared foods.
We marinate our own meats, chop our own
vegetables and make our own desserts. We
have added many vegetarian choices, with
grilled vegetables or soy protein. We
make everything from scratch. We believe
food is better for you when prepared by
caring hands and happy people. We have
been preparing food in this manner since
I came to the Last Concert Cafe in 1986.
Thanks, Dawn
